QUESTIONS

What is Permanent Makeup (PMU)?

Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing or PMU, is a specialized technique that uses pigments and advanced tools to enhance facial features such as the eyebrows and lips. The goal is to create soft, natural-looking definition that complements your features rather than overpowering them.

Immediately after your appointment, results will appear more bold and saturated.

As the skin heals, the color lightens and softens, gradually settling into a natural, healed result over the following weeks.

Unlike traditional tattoos, permanent makeup pigments are designed to fade slowly over time, allowing for adjustments as your skin, facial structure, and personal style change.

Results typically last 1–3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

Permanent makeup is designed to save time, restore confidence, and provide long-lasting enhancement while maintaining a balanced, natural appearance once healed.

Am I a good candidate for permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup works best for people who want subtle, natural enhancement and are comfortable with a process that unfolds over time.

You may be a good candidate if you’re looking to:

  1. Add definition to your brows or lips without a heavy makeup look
  2. Simplify your routine while still looking put together
  3. Work with your natural features rather than change them
  4. Allow time for healing and color to soften before judging results

Permanent makeup may not be the right fit right now if:

  1. You are pregnant or nursing
  2. You have certain medical or skin conditions that affect healing
  3. You’re looking for very bold, dramatic, or makeup-heavy results
  4. You’re not comfortable with gradual healing or future maintenance

Every face and skin type is different. That’s why consultations are an important part of the process. We’ll talk through your goals, review your skin and history, and make sure permanent makeup makes sense for you before moving forward.

My approach is always conservative, honest, and focused on long-term results that feel natural once healed.

How do I know which service is right for me?

You don’t need to have everything figured out before booking. Every appointment includes a consultation before the service begins.

Whether you’re choosing between Microblading, Powder Brows, Combo Brows, or Lip Blush, we’ll talk through your goals, natural features, skin type, and lifestyle to determine the best fit.

During your appointment, I’ll assess your skin and facial structure, discuss what you’re hoping to achieve, and recommend the technique that will give you the most natural, long-lasting results.

Every case is unique. If you’re unsure before booking, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to talk it through with you and help you decide.

What’s the difference between Microblading, Powder, and Combo Brows?

  1. Microblading: Hair-like strokes for a very natural, soft look
  2. Powder Brows: A soft-shaded, filled-in look — like powder makeup
  3. Combo Brows: The best of both — hair strokes + shading for more depth

We’ll talk through which technique is best for your skin type, lifestyle, and goals during your consultation..

What is Lip Blush?

Lip Blush is a form of cosmetic tattooing designed to enhance the natural shape, color, and definition of your lips.

Using a specialized machine and ultra-fine needles, pigment is deposited into the top layers of the skin to create a soft, sheer tint that heals to look like a natural flush—not a heavy lipstick.

The goal is to even out tone, correct asymmetry, and give the lips a fuller, more youthful appearance without changing their structure.

It’s perfect for restoring faded color, defining the border, and creating a polished look that lasts 1 to 3 years.

Think of it as your lips—but better.

Every appointment includes a consultation, and technique recommendations are based on your skin type, lifestyle, and long-term results.

Does it hurt?

Discomfort is generally minimal.

Most clients describe the sensation as light scratching or gentle pressure. A strong topical numbing cream is applied before and during the service to keep you as comfortable as possible.

The lips are more sensitive than other areas, such as the brows, so some clients may feel slightly more discomfort during Lip Blush treatments. Even so, it is typically very manageable.

How long does it last?

Results typically last 1–3 years, depending on your skin type, aftercare, lifestyle, and how well your skin retains pigment.

Touch-ups (sometimes called color boosts) are maintenance sessions that refresh pigment and adjust shape or color as needed over time. Oily skin types may require more frequent touch-ups.

What is the after care?

You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions at your appointment.

Proper aftercare is essential for the best healed results.

  1. Keep brows/lips clean and moisturized for the first 7–10 days
  2. Avoid sweating, makeup, and direct sun exposure during healing
  3. Do not pick at scabs or flakes
  4. Apply healing balm as directed
  5. For first-time PMU clients, a follow-up touch-up appointment is required to refine shape and color once healing is complete

What to Expect: Healing Timeline for PMU

Permanent makeup heals in stages. While brows and lips heal slightly differently, most clients experience the following:

  1. Days 1–2: Color appears darker or bolder than expected. Mild swelling or tenderness may occur (more common with lips).

  1. Days 3–7: Light flaking or peeling begins. Do not pick. Color may fade or appear uneven as skin renews.

  1. Weeks 2–4: Skin continues healing beneath the surface. Color begins to settle but may still shift slightly.

  1. Weeks 6–8: This is the ideal time for your follow-up touch-up to refine shape, color, or saturation as needed.

What if I dont like my results?

Your satisfaction matters, which is why every appointment includes a thorough consultation, careful mapping, and collaborative design before any pigment is applied.

Permanent makeup heals in phases and is not fully settled immediately. Skin heals differently from person to person, and it’s normal for color or symmetry to evolve during the healing process.

If you have concerns about how your results are healing, please communicate with me directly.

Your first touch-up appointment is designed to assess pigment retention and make any necessary refinements to shape, color, or saturation.
